Well Scott, now that you've brought
up 12 Stones...
I saw 12 Stones in Milwaukee last
night. It was a hole in the wall bar, I was very unimpressed by
that. There were about 25 people there, at the most. So I found a
seat against the wall halfway between the stage and the door. After about
15 minutes (while the first band was playing) I saw Paul and Eric walk in.
They walked around asking questions to the stagehands and such for a few
minutes...and then came and stood in front of me and watched the band.
Kevin walked in about 15 minutes later, and when the first band was done I got
up the nerve to walk (a whole 5 feet) over to them, and say hi. I
tapped Paul on the shoulder, he turned, and I said, "You're Paul, right?"
A HUGE smile appeared on his face, and he said yes, and then I proceeded to name
the others. I introduced myself, told them I'm on the street team,
etc. They were nearly ecstatic that I was fussing over them but didn't let
it go to their heads. They hung out and chatted with me for about 20
minutes, talking about the weather, their tour, how tired they were...
Then the next band was beginning, so I took my spot again, and they wandered
over every so often to say a word or two. I know this phrase is becoming
cliche, but...they're so normal. They were sweet, and friendly, and acted
like we'd all known each other for years. They took the stage a while
later, and I had made my way to the front. The unfortunate part, was that
there were only 2 other people that were there to see THEM. The rest of
the crowd was made up of friends of the first 2 local bands. I sung along
to every single song, and they were pretty amused by that. Paul
pointed at me and smiled several times (including each time they say "thank you"
during Soulfire), and once or twice I thought he was trying not to laugh.
They have wonderful attitude and energy on stage. After the show I waited
for them to come back out, where there were 2 girls who would qualify as Higher
Chicks at a Creed concert, waiting to talk to the guys. Eric spoke to them
briefly before going backstage, saying that they'd be out in a minute and would
talk to them then. When they came out...Kevin headed straight for me, and
we talked again for a few minutes, before Eric and Aaron made their way
over. Paul was talking to the 2 other actual fans who were present, but we
pulled him away for a picture with me (which I'll be giving Tara for the
creedlisters page within the next 24 hours). Meanwhile, the higher chicks
decided not to waste their time standing around any longer (score one for the
TRUE fans!). I had another picture taken with Aaron, and then finally a chance
to speak to Paul again. He thanked me (as did the rest of the guys) up and
down for showing my support, and the work I did on the street team. He
also commented again at how impressed he was that I knew all the lyrics,
and I proceeded to thank him for the way his music has made me feel. He
said, "No, thank YOU. You have no idea what it feels like to hear
that." He also told me that when I see them in Moline, IL on May 4, if I
can make my way up to the front, and get his attention he'll make a point of
acknowledging that I'm there. (Yay me!) As far as personality goes,
and me being a fan: I couldn't have picked a better group of guys from a
catalog. If any of you DON'T buy this album on Tuesday...a few months from
now you'll be saying, "Why didn't I listen to Jen? She's so smart, and
beautiful..." Oh wait, sorry. Got carried away there...
Anyway, 12 Stones rocks. And as
much as I LOVE Creed...it's a close race as of today.
Jen
