This is for Ray, too, since he basically asked the same question:
As far as I know, the members of Creed have never claimed to be Christians.  Yes, some of their lyrics are spiritual/religious in nature, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're Christians.  I'm not a Christian, yet I relate to Creed's lyrics and consider myself to be a spiritual person.
They explain the reason they use the phrase "god damn" in part in the FAQ.  It was a reaction to losing a friend to suicide.  I seem to recall reading somewhere that the line is a paraphrase of that friends actual words in his suicide note - something like "now look who's settled the goddamn score".  It wasn't meant to be blasphemous, imo.  To read Scott Stapps explanation for yourself, the FAQ is located at http://www.creed.com/band/faq.html.  There are also answers to other questions there that you might have regarding Creed and their music.
