Well, since it's on it's way,
you may as well try it out and see if it's what you like. But again, I
would dump the OS immediately and get something better. Of course, doing
so would probably void your warranty, since you're changing something that will
affect the way the computer works (it'll work better, but that's corporations
for ya). Since it's dad's money, see if the computer is good enough for
you. But in all honesty, I would have shopped around a bit before
committing to this one. As Debbi said, Dell is much nicer to work with...
you can actually custom-build a computer with them, and get a whole
lot more for the same cost as you're paying for this one. Plus, Dell
doesn't give you AOL, so that is a perk all in itself.
But, as I said... play with it a
bit... try running it to extremes... leave it turned on and running for a few
days... load some high-resource usage programs... see how it handles under
pressure. And yeah, it's going to have sound... but again, you could have
gotten better.
It may not seem like it now, but
pretty soon you'll start to fin the flaws in the computer... for example, the
drive space is going to haunt you in a couple months, unless you are VERY
careful about what you have on the computer. And for the cost, you should
have gotten a CDRW too... you'll miss that terribly.
