As on its first two albums, Weathered deals with heady, inspirational subjects, most of which are personal reflections from singer Scott Stapp. But Stapp tells LAUNCH that he's reluctant to delve into the meanings of his songs, and prefers that listeners interpret them openly. "I really don't like to talk about the source unless it's just completely blatant, like '(With) Arms Wide Open' was. You know, that was a no-brainer, you know: Everyone kinda knew the source for that, and that's why that became so well-known. But with the other songs, you know, aside from early on in, in my career with admitting that some of the songs had dealt with my strict religious upbringing and my struggles with accepting that, or wondering, or believing if that was correct and true and, you know, a lot of the early stuff I admitted dealt with that. But, you know, I, I just don't want to change what they think," he says.
Creed plans to launch a tour to support Weathered in mid-January.
