Hey everyone,
I'm a newcomer to this list. I might as well do the obligatory introduction. My name is Mike, I'm 19, and I live in Philadelphia (Philly what?). I started listening to Creed back in the summer of '99. I was supposed to go to an October concert for them, but that morning, I was wondering if I should go or not (I had not gotten tickets yet, they were sold out when I 1st went to get them, so I was waiting for a few of them to open the day of the show). At this point I wasn't really into Creed a lot, so as I wondering if I wanted to go or not. I had just woken up and was still in bed. I turned around, put on the TV which I had left on The Box the night before (an old completely music request channel) and the Higher video was on. I took that as a sign and went. I never regretted my decision. I was hooked after that concert. I bought Human Clay at the concert only knowing Higher, and I fell in love with that song, With Arms Wide Open, Wash Away Those Years, What If, and Beautiful as I listened to the CD that night after the concert. I love the whole CD, but those were the ones that stuck me first. I've since seen Creed a total of 2 times, I have both Human Clay and My Own Prison. I also have the Red Vinyl with the With Arms Wide Open acoustic on it, and a bootleg of the first concert I went to.
As far as beliefs go, please, no one ask me about mine. I'm told I have a "unique view" on beliefs and things like that, and I don't want to offend any of you (at least not yet, I want to get to know you guys first, then offend you ;-) ).
My top two favorite bands are Stabbing Westward and Creed (as I'm waiting for the rotten fruit to start flying at me for mentioning a band ahead of Creed ;-) ) I also like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Tantric, Nine Inch Nails, and A Perfect Circle to name a few more. So I don't waste anymore email space, you can just go to http://hometown.aol.com/nirvanascreed17 to find out more about me.
I'll let you guys guess which one I am.
I knew about this list for a while, but just kept forgetting to join. I know I'm new to this list, but I have a suggestion to maybe make it a little better. I'm also on a Stabbing Westward list like this, and before each post we put (SW) in the heading. I was wondering if you guys would be opposed to that? I like to read everyone's posts, but if I don't recognize the email address I usually just delete it. I was going to say if maybe we could put (Creed) in the subject line of the email so I don't delete what you guys say. Also, it helps it cut the risk of getting a virus. Just a thought.
It feels good to see other Creed fans talk about the band. Human Clay sold over 10 million albums, yet I only know 3 Creed fans, and one of those 3 is me. Almost none of my friends like Creed, or if they don't like them, they just flat out hate them. This also brings me to a question I wanted to ask you guys. Why does it seem to me that a lot of people hate Creed? I read an article on rollingstone.com about the first My VH1 awards and all they do is bash Creed left and right. I know a lot of people who don't like them, and it seems like when they're mentioned in a magazine, they just get tore up. Up to this point it's been the same with MTV also. Creed's been one of the biggest bands in the last 3-4 years, and they're never on an MTV award show, meanwhile bands like Blink 182 are on there all the time (Sorry if I offended any Blink fans). I just wanted to get some other Creed fans' reaction to this.
Also, I wanted to know what the rest of you guys think about the Creed being compared to Pearl Jam? I love both bands, but I'm getting a little tired of it. Because Scott and Eddie sound so similar Creed is just a knock off of Pearl Jam? I love Creed, and I love Pearl Jam, but I get ever so tired of hearing that. Lifehouse's and Tantric's lead singers both sound like Eddie and Scott, but it seems like Creed is the only band getting bashed for the similarity. I just wanted to get your guys reaction to this.
Okay, I'm done rambling now. If any of you guys read all the way down here, I have one thing to say to you . . . . Thanks. If any Creed fans in the Philly area (or any Creed fans at all) want to talk to me, you can IM me at NirvanasCreed17 Thanks.
