I agree with your interpretation.  I honestly don't see any other way to interpret the song, to be honest.  That doesn't mean that there aren't other possible interpretations.  I still don't see any depth in the lyrics.  In my opinion, they are quite juvenile sounding, but that is ONLY an opinion.  I personally feel that the lyrics to any Creed song are far more advanced and articulate  than the lyrics in this song.  

P.S. the grammar is not always on target, but it doesn't have to be, it's a freakin song!  I was just writing about Creed's faulty grammar to point out the absurdity of all the comments like "Ooooh, you're so uneducated...blah blah blah. You can't use proper sentence structure...blah blah blah."  i hope the point has been made now

Oh, so instead of saying that you may not be always grammatically correct, you had to try to beat down Creed again?
