Since we all have heard that the world is round
since our beginnings, it doesn't seem like such a far-fetched idea to us.
But think about it this way... if someone went around telling everyone that the
universe is enclosed in a glass marble like in 'Men in Black', and truly
believed this, most people would think he (or she) is pretty nuts... even though
there's no way to disprove what that person is saying. Or what about those
people who stand around with the signs saying "The end is near" and who claim
the antichrist is walking the earth at this moment? I personally find that
just a little odd, but who's to say they're not right? It's just one idea,
but that one idea is odd enough that some people might consider them
insane.
And, since killing and eating a person would be
considered highly deviant from normal society, that person would still be
considered insane. They're not making a statement that can be proved or
disproved... they're saying that they killed and ate someone because it's
nutritious. Well, there are a lot of other ways to get nutrition, and
that's well known. Now, if they killed that person because the person was
the Antichrist, and they could PROVE that, then there might be some basis for
refuting the insanity claim.

Do you really think that others will view a
person insane based upon one idea
or thought that they don't themselves
consider to be "normal"? I would tend
to think that something a bit
more drastic would have to occur for a person
to be considered "insane".
That could just be me, though.
