Another one that creeps me out is Ann Rule's "The Stranger Beside Me", about Ted Bundy.  I lived in Lake City, Florida, where he killed his last victim, for almost 8 years growing up, and actually knew her father.  I read the book (I don't know if it was made into a movie or not) about 10 years after he rode the lightning, and it just plain freaked me out.

Exactly.  When I saw it the first time (age 10) was on CBS, cut.  Then I
read the book, which was pretty shocking after the edited movie ("You will
let Jesus..."; that STILL knocks me for a loop).  THEN I saw the uncut
version, and had nightmares for a week.

I still have nightmares..anytime I watch that movie, it has to be in broad
daylight, with all the doors locked..one time it was pretty late, around
midnight and I thought, hmmm, maybe I will watch this, needless to say I
didn't even get through half the movie, I just couldn't...I'm such a
whimp..lol.
