I think Ross (and for that matter, I) would HEARTILY disagree with you, and
the differences extend FAR beyond spelling and slang.  I mean, consider the
recent thread where Ross and I compared the meanings of "chips", "sweets vs
candy bars", "walkers", and those are just the ones that come IMMEDIATELY to
mind.

How about "lift vs. elevator", or "lorrie (sp) vs. semi" (aka
"tractor-trailer"), or "carriageway vs. highway" (or interstate, or freeway,
or parkway, or causeway, or tollway, or turnpike), or "petrol vs. gasoline"?
You get the point, and we haven't even really covered any slang.

And of course, there's pronunciation differences as well ("garage",
"laboratory", etc.)
