Well, I come from German, Danish, Polish, and Scottish ancestry, so I would most properly be called a "Mutt-American", but I prefer simply American.  Does this mean I've forgotten or neglected my ancestry?  Absolutely not.  It simply means that I feel no need to point out that I'm a German-Danish-Polish-Scottish-American, when, FOR ME at least, American says it all.

but what about those of us born here?  Sure were known as American-Italian,
but shouldn't the fact that we are born in America make it our homeland?
