Although, the rules MAY be different for Canadians (and again, I haven't researched this).

So there's a difference in illegal aliens depending on where they live?  If so, then Canadian's must fall under a different rule.  I married a Canadian and he did not AUTOMATICALLY gain citizenship because we were married.  We still had a long drawn out process to go through with INS, but in the end, he does get to apply for citizenship.  That process only took 3 1/2 years, which is far less than 18, so again, I'm wondering, are there different rules that apply depending on your country of birth....seems odd....
