You took Spanish?  So did I.  I'm not sure about the public schools in NYC because I went to Maryland public schools, and in the ones I went to (and also most around the same area) Foriegn language was a required class.  I only went to college in NY.

In NY, it was probably unique.  I don't think there are public schools (if so, a few) that require that many years.

Actually in some places it IS required to take a foriegn language for all 4
years of high school, sometimes part of Middle school in order to graduate.
When I was in school, I had to take 4 credits (4 years) of either French
or Spanish (required languages) and 2 credits in middle.  I graduated not
that long ago.

Hey Alexis, I too had to take a foreign language in both middle school and
high school...I took 3 years of spanish in middle school and 3 years in high
school, I'm not really sure if it's required by all NYC public schools, I
went to college preparatory schools so I don't really know if that's unique
to those types of schools or if it's a citywide thing.
