Yes, I have seen that video
by Blink 182. It was funny ! Actually, when they played it on Viva (music tv)
they should have gotten a lot of hate mail from fans of those boy groups and
B.Spears,lol. The song was pretty successful over here.
About radio stations - we
have a lot of radio stations, local and for the whole country. Then - some
are public (major, like Polish Radio channel 1, 2 and 3) and some private. Those
private have the major of listeners though, the problem is they (private)
play mostly the same music - basically it's pop and a lot of old hits. I'm sick
and tired of this, because I think radio should also promote new music, new
bands and totally different styles. But I think they play what's big at the
moment...That is why I wrote before I listen to one radio station (this
public Channel "3"), because I can find there pop, rock, metal, jazz,
country, etc. It depends what do you like I guess...
With album release - it
depends what label are sign on, how big you are and if people from record label
decide if they actually want to release you in Europe. When you're big the
release dates are similar - but records in Europe comes out on Monday, not like
in the States on Tuesday. That is why I will buy Creed's new cd on Nov 19
YAY!!!! (I checked it, it's true)
Some bands, that are new,
want to have some "base", like you said gain publicity, then they come to Europe
and can say - we have sold over 1 mln copies in the States.
Another funny thing is some
records are released at totally different time in different European countries.
Some will never released here...I think it's also like that because
rock music isn't so
popular here like in the States :( and people actually don't buy that much
cds...Hope it wasn't too long...

I saw the "Tearin' up my heart" video that they did, but I didn't know it
was them. That was funny, but my fav. video that made fun of a lot of
groups at once would have to be "All the small things" by Blink182. I
mean, I actually like (gasp) some of the newer stuff by the Backstreet boys
and other pop artists, but I couldn't help but laugh at that video. Did
you see it where you live?
Also, it was interesting hearing about your radio stations. You
mean you only have one major station? That threw me since I grew up on
various ones that are always competing for what to say, and always have
something different. Also albums are released there later than in the
states? I always thought overseas would be released first, but then
again, I guess it all depends on where the group starts touring or gaining
publicity.
