Depends on if they're sharing one windows profile or separate profiles.

You can have multiple profiles on the OS and then you don't get to choose different profiles for email.
 
Or you can have multiple profiles for email and share one OS profile.

Actually, you can drag down the name in which you want to send from, depending on how many profiles you have set up.  But you knew that.

No, actually, I would not be reading through my dad's hotmail account.  You DO know what Outlook Express is, right?  I mean, you use OE5.5, so you SHOULD have an idea of how it works.  Hotmail can be set up on OE just the same as any ISP e-mail address, and if you have it set to have one address as the default reply address for all e-mails loaded into the program, it will use that address... and since this is dad's computer, his address gets to be default.  But you knew that.
 
By all means, carry on, as I'm sure you will... although I believe multiple people have asked you not to
