Okay, I think I'm going to reply to a couple things on this issue today, and then I'm getting out of this debate before it gets TOO deep (Debbi had the right idea here:  WHY AM I DOING THIS!?  LOL)  Anyway, I just want to draw a parallel between the downloading of songs "illegally" (wanting/getting something for nothing) and wanting/getting ANYTHING ELSE FOR NOTHING.  I WANT a DVD player to go along with the rest of my home entertainment system, but right now I can't afford it.  So, should I a), go to Best Buy and steal one, b), go to a friend's house who DOES have one and steal his, or c), wait until I can afford one myself and just be happy with my VCR until then?  Well, if I go to Best Buy and steal one, there's about a 99% chance I'll get caught and go to jail or prison (in my case, prison, as I have a record :-( ).  If I steal my friend's, I basically have to keep him out of my house from that point on, or I'll be caught and sent to prison.  If, on the other hand, I save my money, and don't buy anything else I don't really need in the near future, in a couple months I'll be able to go and BUY my DVD player LEGALLY, thereby completely negating the chance of going to prison (and believe me when I say it will be WELL worth the wait!).  This may not seem like a fair analogy to some, but it fits.  After all, the artists who made the music people are STEALING through Napster (read: WERE until it was shut down) may want to get better equipment for their next CD/tour/video, but the more their music is STOLEN, the less money they'll make to be able to afford the things they need to keep making the music people are STEALING.  Again (as Dennis Miller says), this is just MY opinion, I could be wrong!
