Yeah, I'm in
Seattle now, although I grew up in Vermont and have lived in New England until a
few years ago. My husband is in the Coast Guard and he got orders to
report here in '95. We've been out here since then and I fell into an
awesome job/career so even though he got orders to California last year, we kept
the house here and he commutes home every couple of weeks for a few days rather
than us both moving down there. Plus, we're pretty serious about herding
and one of the best herd dog trainers in the country is here so it's another
excuse not to move <g>
I'm moving up
the geeky scale, which is a little frightening for all sorts of reasons, but my
efforts have proved to be pretty successful so far. I've got about 90% of
my CDs cataloged and am working on a SQL dB to store the data (yak! I can't
believe I even typed that!) and I've just bought 2 more bookshelves for our
library and once I get the rest of our books unpacked -- yes we only moved 3 1/2
years ago! -- I'm going to catalog them.
Now, I know
you guys have the young'un, but how old are your other boys?

Geek move of
the week: spent last weekend reconfiguring my DSL router to allow DHCP so
I don't have to type ipconfig stuff every time I move the laptop from the
corporate network to the home network then installed and configured a
firewall. Next project - wireless LAN at the house because dragging a
net cord around with the laptop is SUCH a drag :-P
That's the nice thing about other people's kids..
you can give them back when the fun wears off and the kids start getting
cranky... lol Didn't you say you're from Washington? My
fiance is originally from a little island just off of Orcas Island, on the
Canadian side of the border.
My CD collection leaves a lot to be desired (I
still probably have more tapes than I do CDs), but I have a pretty decent
sized book collection. Looking at my bookcase right now, it's a pretty
odd assortment, too.. matches my music collection. =) Too bad
people can't swap books and CDs through e-mail, eh?
