Easy way to find out if it's your headphones... do you have a stereo? Use your headphones to listen to something on the stereo, and if the music still sounds staticky, then it's your headphones. Try listening to Napster without headphones to see if it still sounds staticky through your regular computer speakers... basically, do some general troubleshooting and see what you come up with.
