I bought the new Coldplay album and think that Yellow is the best of the
tunes on the album. The other songs on the albm are more jazzish to me
in style.
Anyway, a band that sounds great live is a real plus. But also it
depends on the inginuity of those that compile the album in the studio.
There are very talented and creative people that can produce an album.
But may not be a good live group.
The work of Alan Parsons on Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side Of The Moon"
and "The Beatles - Abbey Road" album show credance of a great person to
compile and orchestrate the material. Of course the band has a lot to do
with it also. Since "Al Stewart" was also one of the albums that he
helped produce. I liked the album. But apparently the band did not
appeal to a lot of others.
I loved the studio albums from Alan Parson's Project from "Tales Of
Mystery And Imagination", "I Robot", "Pyramid" and the like. But it
wasn't really a band to say. It was just mastery in the studio.
Later,
Jim C.
