The original Human Clay CD, the one released (in
the States, at least) 9-28-99, had only one version of With Arms Wide
Open. The single was released as a version with strings, rather than the
version that's on the original CD. The Human Clay albums produced after
that happened had the second (strings) version of WAWO on it as a bonus
track. Creednet also offered the enhanced version of WAWO as a download
for those people who bought Human Clay before the bonus track was added.
It's a matter of timing... those who bought the CD when it was first released
either had to buy another CD, or had to settle for the download, while those who
waited for the CD got a bonus track. Sorta like when the CDs are released
in England and other countries... they have to wait longer for the CDs, so they
get bonus tracks. (A friend of mine from England sent me his copy of MOP
when mine disappeared, and it had the bonus track of Bound & Tied on
it).
