I'd like to see examples of someone getting yelled at for saying "hello".  Use both sides of the paper, if necessary.  If you can't provide them, STFU because your memory is too short to mesh with reality.  Nobody gets flamed for saying they're new to the list or for saying hello.  At least by the usual suspects.  I have, however seen lurkers and other newbies flame for sending "NCR" content in the form of "hihowareya's"

Tara, I couldn't agree with you more, I can't even begin to count the number of new people who have wrote in to say hello only to be yelled at and for what? Because they goofed up and forgot to hit reply all or whatever??  They don't want to be welcomed like that.
