Just a heads up with Vaio laptops, though... if you plan to use Cable Modem, check with your provider about compatibility issues. I work CM support and there are a couple inexplicable problems with the built-in NICs on some Vaios.

You're right, Joe, XP is very much worth the few glitches I have encountered. I have the home edition, which came *free* as a part of the purchase of a Sony Vaio (that came equipped with Windows ME). Sony had some great rebates, too-on the LCD monitor, and the computer purchase. I think I got about $200 back in rebates, not to mention the XP upgrade. I'm very pleased.

This is not a plug or anything, just an FYI in case anyone is thinking of getting a new square-headed boyfriend/girlfriend, whichever the case may be.
