Honestly, I didn't think they sounded alike at all.  I don't like Pearl Jam.  I never have.  I immediately liked Creed when I heard them.  I think that Eddie sounds like a dying cow, (I await the hate mail.) and while Scott may be baritone also, I think it is way easier to understand him, and I think he has a better voice.  I really don't see much similarity in their sound musically either, but then again, I am quite good when it comes to recognizing differences in music.  I think the main difference between Creed and Pearl Jam (and this is just my opinion) is that, to me, Creed is more harmonious.  "My Own Prison", for example has harmony in the chorus.  I have yet to hear a Pearl Jam song that displays such harmony.  I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but I have yet to hear it.
