Joe, I think you misread the point of Jim's post.....first, I'm quite certain that it did not imply that everyone from Tallahassee is a Satanist, he was merely pointing out a well known fact that because Stapp was so influenced by Jim Morrison, that he even moved to Tallahassee because Jim had once lived there....Scott's thinking was that if he lived there maybe he'd be able to follow in Jim's footsteps as a rock musician....eventually ending up in L.A. with fame and fortune.  As for the bands chemical policy....Scott may have well been headed into that very life of sex/drugs and rock-n-roll....he's never denied his past drug use...in fact, he's stated that the very line from My Own Prison, the lyrics "should have been dead on a Sunday morning, banging my head..." were directly inspired by the fact that he damn near overdosed on mushroom juice and thought sure he should have been dead when he woke up on Sunday morning.  He has also told of times when they were doing the club circuit early on in their career, where he would be rip-roaring drunk during the shows.  But....his saving grace seems to have come from his ex-wife Hillaree, who told him if they were to get together, she would not tolerate the "rockstar" life style.  He and the band decided not to ever do a show drunk or stoned.

At any rate....I don't think Jim posted this to slander anyone, merely to pass along an article he'd read....and frankly, I find your attitude of asking him to refrain from posting an oposing view to your own to just be wrong.  Those of us who do not see your religious connotations to all the lyrics are not asking you to stop, therefore, I'd appreciate it if you'd please not ask anyone with oposing viewpoints to stop posting either.

Thanks,

  V

Hrmm...

Lots of people live in Tallahassee. Are they all demon-possessed?
Seriously, there is a qualitative difference between artistic influence and
personal influence. I have seen nothing in Scott Stapp to suggest that he
has allowed Jim Morrison's defects of character to influence him on a
personal level.  If that were the case, chances are Scott would be dead or
at very least on a path of destruction that he would not be able to keep
private given the extent of his fame. I don't know if Creed has a totally
chemical-free policy (and I see nothing wrong with an occasional drink or
two - apparently Jesus didn't either) but I do know that he maintains an
environment around the band that he's not ashamed to expose his son to and
that speaks volumes as far as I'm concerned.

On a more personal note, I'd appreciate it if you'd keep this sort of
one-sided Christian alarmism to yourself. It profits no one and without
proper investigation. You merely took a slew of quotes out of context to
swing them into agreement with your argument. To put it in terms you're sure
to understand, this sort of propagandizing violates a little-known
commandment about not bearing false witness against your neighbor and I
wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that it's slanderous to the point of
raising a few legal eyebrows.  Please remember before pointing fingers at
others, that you're far from perfect and therefore have little room to point
fingers. To illustrate this point, I'll kindly direct you to Luke 18:9-14,
which states:
